Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we’ve committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do “random questions,” so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don’t have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today’s meme!
Before I start, I put on yesterday’s post Day 27, when in fact, today is Day 27. Oops!
Saturday: 9 – Brand New Me.
1) It’s a brand new year! Do you have any resolutions for 2013?
No I definitely don’t! If you want to know the reasons, take a look at my post Daily Prompt: Resolved. Sorry, but until someone shows me how to link back to a previous post, you’ll have to search for it the old way.
2) Dusty Springfield sang of feeling “brand new.” What leaves you feeling refreshed and/or rejuvenated?
Now that’s a tough one… hmm, what does make me feel refreshed and/or rejuvenated? Well, I suppose a shower or bath makes me feel refreshed. Maybe even getting caught in a torrential downpour, but then, no, I don’t find that really refreshing. Cold and sodden probably.
Rejuvenated… maybe a good nights sleep, but then, I can’t remember the last time I slept for more than 5 hours. So again, no. Oh hell, I don’t have any profound answers to give you. Let’s bypass this one. Next!
3) Dusty’s given name was Mary Catherine. If you could give yourself a brand new first name, what would it be?
Since I was little, this question has popped into my head many a time. I’ve never really liked my names (yes, I have three) and would have loved the opportunity to have changed. My chosen one (and yes, I’d only have one if I had the choice) would be either, Sophie or Danielle. I love those names.
4) Actor Billy Bob Thornton has dismissed antiques, saying, “I’m creeped out by old stuff.” Do you ever shop at estate sales, yard sales or second-hand stores? Or do you want everything brand new?
Oh my… I’m a secondhand-store-carboot-sale junkie! I love the damn things! There’s nothing better than rummaging through other people’s tat to find a gem. I collect books, items of crockery, odd plates or dishes, china cups and saucers, anything like that really. But I also buy new stuff as well.
A good balance of old and new isn’t a bad thing, it’s about reclaiming and allowing the old to coexist with the new. Quite nicely, I might add.
5) Are you sad to see the holiday decorations slowly disappear until next year? Or do you think they should come down on January 2?
Yes and no. I love the smell that exudes from tinsel and trees, and I adore the sparkling coloured lights. However, I wouldn’t want the added struggle of having to clean around all the baubles and ornaments, that would seem more like punishment. But I do follow the 12 days of Christmas rule, and my decorations always come down on the 5th January. If they didn’t, my dad always used to say you’d be forced to spend the year in a pit of doom and bad luck. Now why would I want to mess with that!
6) Do you like the picture on your photo ID?
Hell no! I’m just grateful the only ID with my picture on is my passport (I’m still lucky to have the old paper driving license). You would be hard pressed to catch me in a photo at the best of times. Unless you’re sneaky and quick enough to catch me off-guard, that is.
7) Crazy Sam shudders at the very thought of a snake. Which is your least favorite member of the Animal Kingdom?
I can deal with any animal, reptile, bird or insect… apart from spiders, even typing the word makes me shudder. Someone told me once, they’re just scared little creatures. Yeah right! If they were so scared, why do they always run towards you, answer me that! Scared my eye!
8) What’s the most recent magazine you flipped through?
I don’t normally flip through magazines, unless my kind friend Andy gives me an old Sainsbury’s magazine. Or if I’m hanging around the supermarket waiting for my hubbie to get out of the toilet, I may happen to gravitate towards that particular section and take a sneaky flip-through. No, I’d much rather spend my money on books, thank you.
9) Do you have nice handwriting?
Other Saturday 9’ers:
I have to get a new passport this year…am hoping I can improve on the photo I had done 10 years ago! Sadly I think this will be impossible and I would need a deal of photoshopping (which I’m sure isn’t allowed on passports!!). 😀
Passport photos are the worst. Photoshopping, now wouldn’t that be a great idea, a nip here. a few years taken off there. Wow! I already look 10 years younger!! 😉
I think your handwriting is lovely. And yes, the cat pic is far more appealing than the alternative!
Thank you. Some people say it’s hard to read, but I don’t seem to have any problems, lol. And I had to put a picture of my cat on there, she deserves the limelight. 🙂
I like your writing – it’s very nice! And spiders are blech… I kill ’em. I don’t care how good they are for whatever. Die! Die! Die! Oh, and bats. bats fly toward you. Especially when you scream at them. who knew?
I didn’t know that about bats, but I don’t mind them. As to spiders, I can kill the little ones, but anything over the size of a penny, well you won’t see me for dust, only hear me screaming for help. 😀
Aw- cute kitty!
Thanks for linking to me 🙂
She is, isn’t she, I’m glad you see it, too. 😉 No probs, share the love, that’s what I say. 🙂
You have a nice handwriting ^-^
Thank you, I suppose its not bad for a quick scrawl. 😉
I need sleep for more than 4 hours… I end up awake at night for long hours now….
Ah, to sleep for a whole night would be bliss. But I’m lucky that lack of it doesn’t seem to affect me too much. For now. Sorry you have the same problem, though.
