Winter is here again. by Sarah Neeve
Night-time falls
claiming the last glimmer of light
and everything,
is shrouded in darkness.
The fog creeps in slowly
and bit by bit
the outside is lost
until there is nothing to be seen.
Old men,
that once held a part in this world
huddle closely around a tiny fire,
but as the night goes on
the fire dims
and the cold seeps gradually
into their tired aching bodies.
Then dawn breaks
and with it
comes the first sprinkling of snow.
They start to shiver,
and with their eyes full of tears
they look towards heaven
and pray for a better day.
Very nice.

What inspired this poem? I feel like something caught your imagination and then developed. I like it 🙂
I honestly can’t remember, it was over twenty years ago. You know what they say about age and memory. 😉
