I couldn’t believe it when I found this poem the other day. I was looking for a treatment that I bought for my frizzy hair when I stumbled upon an old notepad I used to use for work. Inside, I found a poem I wrote for one of my employees (yes, I was a fantastic Manager ;)) called Stacy. She’d had a few bad days and I thought I’d write her a poem to cheer her up.
I’d like to share it with you.
Incredible Fred (circa 2000) by Sarah Neeve
A little frog came hopping
one bright and sunny day,
to see a girl named Stacy
and this he had to say.
‘Oh fair and gentle lady,
please make my wish come true.
A special kiss upon my cheek
is all I ask of you.’
Now Stacy was surprised and shocked,
‘dear frog you must be joking.
I cannot kiss a thing like you,
for someone else I’m spoken.’
Upon these words the frog did cry,
alas his heart was broke.
‘Oh pretty lady how hurt I am
there is no need to joke.’
Stacy felt so guilty
about all the things she said,
especially when she found out
his name was Incredible Fred.
With a heavy heart of deep remorse
she decided to grant his wish,
and picked him up and on his cheek
planted a great big kiss.
‘Oh joy, you have bestowed me
a wonderous gift so true.
For now I’m much the richer
because I bet a tenner on you.’
With that he jumped from off her hand,
poor Stacy was all agog,
to learn she had been sorely duped,
by a slimy, gambling frog.
that was adorable!!
Thank you, Terry, and thanks for taking the time to visit and comment. 🙂
